Andrea, I thought this was very moving and really speaks to that moment when one realizes the thing they hoped was acute, temporary, is in fact chronic. If you ever want to chat/vent/embark on some crazy writing project about chronic pain, drop me a line.

Take heart: "The peak incidence of cyclic breast tenderness is 35 to 45 years of age." Aging does have some notable rewards. But future pain relief may be only small comfort when one is in the actual throes of misery.

My hearing aid experience is going well -- although I still can't believe I would pay $7500 for the amount of improvement received -- but I will, at least while I'm still working. And, God bless these aids, I heard practically every nonsensical word that was uttered in a recent corporate meeting. Hallelujah.
