I am a young and new disability studies scholar and was not asked. I would have said, "How about this: put on a different, more suitable and worthy production for which you do not have to construct an apologetic panel." There is no need for us to reproduce hate speech no matter how metaphorical we may say it is, or how musically nifty. Putting a panel at the end does not change this.

Side note, but only slightly side: as an avid supporter of the arts, I am also wondering why we are spending resources harming disabled people in this way by resurrecting such drivel when we could be supporting new and exciting work by current voices working in the genre?
